EASTERN IOWA SECTION ANNOUNCEMENT

2026 American Welding Society Eastern Iowa Section and Eastern Iowa Community College Welding Competition
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) and American Welding Society (AWS) Eastern Iowa Section 162 are proud to present the 2026 Welding Competition.
The competition will take place on Wednesday, May 20 from 9AM - 2PM. Local high school and college students are invited to compete for a chance to win welding gear and AWS scholarships!
Students can choose to enter in one of the following welding processes:
⊲ Gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
⊲ Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)
⊲ Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW)
Contestants and visitors will have the opportunity to meet with reps from local businesses and explore career options.
Student registration will be announced through the AWS Sections mailing list on Monday, March 23 and spots are limited to 54 contestants. Online pre-registration is mandatory and first-come, first-served.
